Winter Supporting Guide

In late fall or early winter take 10 to 20 minutes to remove your roof. Clean it with a mild detergent then wax it with a liquid vinyl wax. Let it dry, then fold and roll and store in a dry clean place away from mice.

We have several customers who choose to leave their roofs on year round. This will void the warranty. Although these customers had no snow problems we must stress, that these units are not designed for the heavy snow loads.

SEASONAL CARE GUIDE

Following are the steps we use to remove and or completely dismantle Patio Screen Room for winter months.
(This is a guide only; choose the best method that suits your condition and situation).

Removing roof:

1) Un-lace all strings or ties.
2) Remove wing nuts and gutter components.
3) Loosen rafter nuts at house, now lower rafters to free vinyl roof.
3) Lift roof off gentle do not drag over white end tubes.
4) Lay roof out on a dry surface, clean with a mild detergent.
(Do not pack unit or roof away until completely dry).
5) Wax roof fall or spring with a vinyl UV protection available at CTC.
6) Be sure to store roof away from squirrel and mice.
7) Be sure to re-tighten rafter nuts at house if unit is staying up for the winter.
8) Remove windbreak panels if unit is staying up for winter, store in a safe place.
9) Slide door open and screw door into upper white track so door can’t slide. MODELS after 2006 have a black track.

Continue only if your taking unit completely down for the winter.
10) Remove rafters and all components regarding rafters.
Leave on house all wood and white rafters holder with gray gasket. Some units don’t have gray gasket.
11) If windy at the time consider removing windbreak panels but keep in mind the safest place to store panels are in the unit packed away.
12) Remove bolt & nuts and white fixation plate (two per section) that hold the front and side rails.
13) Unscrew the floor track, you will need to left up panel at corner to slide out tracks. MODELS after 2005 all you will need to do is un-screw panel that set in floor tracks, (you have the option to leave track screwed to floor).
14) Unscrew wall mounts that hold panel to house again in MODELS after 2005 you can leave the white angle attached to the house.
15) Now your ready to fold up unit like it’s an accordion. It’s not nesseary to remove black vinyl links that hold the panels together. (These links are designed to fold) however with a 10-foot unit you will need to take out the corner links.
16) Be sure to pack unit in a safe place for the winter.

Maintances Recap

  1. Clean vinyl roof with a mild detergent, wax with a vinyl friendly wax.
  2. Clean windbreak panels with vinegar and water (4 to 1 ratio) never clean windbreak panel with any type of detergent. If you do they will turn cloudy which may be corrected if you clean several times with vinegar.
