Winter Support Guide
This is a guide sheet only compiled from our experiences on what you should/could do regarding using winter supports.
First beware that these units are not design for snow loads but with proper care and periodical maintenance you shouldn't’t have any trouble providing you follow our recommendations.
RECOMMENDATIONS: (Anytime your not sure what part were talking about go to your parts list)
- After every strong winds or at least monthly, check unit that all bolts and nuts are tight, especially the two nuts on the treaded rod that fits in the white rod tube that tightens the roof and hold the gutter brackets in place.
- Next most important thing to keep and eye on the side ropes that tie down the vinyl roof sides. During a major storm these ropes make come loose or even break. We seen this happen were clients haven’t checked them for several years.
- Be sure that winter supports have a good (see drawing below) crown at all times. During a strong wind storm the nut may want to come lose from the vibration.
- With snow build up the same rule applies as to your house roof. (GET IT OFF)!. Our clients experiences with our units, the wind ether blows it off or it will slide off by it’s self or with a little help from inside. However every location is a different sensorial, so use you own good/common sense judgment
- For full snow support you should have a support under each roof rafter with the exception of the end ones.
Note: If you leave the vinyl roof on you Patio Screen Room, Veranda Jardin or The Patio Screen Room / Deslauriers Distributors will not be responsible for any damage which could result from this.
Regarding the above note the only time we had any issues were due to human negligence.
